(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Utah Taxpayer Association is hoping to shine a light on the way taxpayer money is spent by state lawmakers. The group released its first Pork Barrel report yesterday, saying it was an effort to provide transparency and accountability through an analysis of the state budget. The report looks at the last six years of state spending, identifying trends in one-time and ongoing use of taxpayer money. The group hopes the annual report will educate Utahns, allowing them to have a dialogue with state lawmakers during the upcoming legislative session.
