(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utahns are being reminded that burning wood or coal can harm air quality and lead to inversions during the winter. The state Department of Environmental Quality is warning those with wood stoves, fireplaces and other heating equipment that restrictions on wood and coal burning begin next Tuesday. Anyone wishing to use wood or coal for heating should check the Division of Air Quality’s website or app to make sure it’s okay to burn that day. Violations of those restrictions can lead to fines.
