A little after 11:00 am on Oct. 23, a Kane County Deputy encountered a Jeep and a Chevy Camaro travelling in excess of 100 mph about 20 miles east of Kanab. According to reports the Jeep stopped, but the Camaro continued driving recklessly, passing on double yellow lines and reaching speeds over 120 mph. Once in Kanab the vehicle drove through some residential roads before getting back on Highway 89 heading north.
The driver of the Camaro lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a cedar tree before trying to flee on foot, but she was caught and taken into custody. 42 year old Devnee Petefish of Idaho was transported to Kane County Hospital for examination, then taken to Kane County Jail where she was booked on drug charges, possession of a weapon, DUI and many traffic violations. A search of her vehicle produced a large quantity of methamphetamine, over 900 Fentanyl pills, drug paraphernalia, drug distribution equipment and a loaded firearm.
According to reports, “the Jeep was not involved with the Camaro or the drugs, just wrong place, wrong time.” They were cited for the traffic violations they committed.
