3A First Round
MT. PLEASANT, Utah-Beau Jacobson recorded 116 scrimmage yards on 10 touches and ran for a score as the No. 6 North Sanpete Hawks downed the No. 11 Ben Lomond Scots 28-7 Friday in the first round of 3A football playoff action.
This game is also noteworthy as it represents the last time the Hawks will have their press box and stadium as presently constituted at North Sanpete High School. Renovations will be made in the offseason.
Manase Tutagaloa ran for a score in defeat for the Scots but also threw three interceptions (two by Preston Madsen) as Ben Lomond ends the season at 3-8.
The Hawks, who improved to 5-6 on the season, outgained Ben Lomond 355-142 on the evening.
North Sanpete next visits No. 3 seed Grantsville Friday in the 3A state quarterfinals.
MANTI, Utah-Larson Pogroszewski ran for four touchdowns and the No. 8 Manti Templars pounded No. 9 Ogden 48-15 in the first round of the 3A state playoffs Friday. Bo Stevens added a 10-yard touchdown run in victory for Manti. The Templars gave head coach Cole Meacham a victory in his last game at Manti High School at the helm of the program. Manti next visits No. 1 Juab Friday in the 3A state quarterfinals.
DRAPER, Utah-Hayden Mezenen ran for a pair of scores and the No. 7 Juan Diego Soaring Eagle outlasted No. 10 Union 38-35 Friday in the first round of the 3A state playoffs. Jackson Rasmussen tossed five touchdown passes in the loss for the Cougars. The Soaring Eagle next visits No. 2 Morgan in the 3A state quarterfinals Friday.
RICHFIELD, Utah-Emery Thorson threw three touchdown passes, ran for two more scores and returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown as the No. 5 Richfield Wildcats pounded No. 12 Carbon 49-0 in the first round of the 3A state playoffs Friday. The Wildcats next visit No. 4 Canyon View Friday in the 3A state quarterfinals.

HERRIMAN, Utah-Tate Edwards ran for a pair of scores and the No. 6 Providence Hall Patriots pounded No. 11 ALA 38-3 in the first round of the 2A playoffs Friday. The Patriots next visit No. 6 Emery in the 2A state quarterfinals Friday.
DELTA, Utah-Cameron Smith had a pick-six and hauled in a 23-yard touchdown pass from Hunt Robison for another score and the No. 8 Delta Rabbits bested No. 9 Millard 28-21 Friday in the first round of the 2A playoffs. Morgan Wade ran for a pair of scores in the loss for the Eagles. Delta next visits No. 1 South Summit Friday in the 2A state quarterfinals.
BLUFFDALE, Utah-Bronson Dixon ran for four scores and the No. 5 Summit Academy Bears routed No. 12 Grand 42-6 in the first round of the 2A playoffs Friday. Taytm Bisco threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Rayce Walling in the loss for the Red Devils. Summit Academy next visits No. 4 Beaver in the 2A state quarterfinals Friday.
SALT LAKE CITY-Carter Abraham threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score while adding a pick-six as the No. 10 South Sevier Rams pounded No. 7 Judge 65-27 in the first round of the 2A playoffs Friday. South Sevier next visits No. 2 San Juan Friday in the 2A state quarterfinals.
