Football

3A South

MT. PLEASANT, Utah-Emery Thorson ran for 128 yards and a pair of scores on 18 carries and the Richfield Wildcats spoiled North Sanpete’s Senior Night with a 24-7 win over the Hawks Wednesday in the regular season finale for both squads in 3A South play.

Reggie Hafen (7-12, 97 yards, TD) added a 5-yard touchdown pass to Beck Giblette as Richfield concludes the regular season at 6-4 and 2-3 in 3A South play.

North Sanpete fell to 4-6 on the season and 2-3 in 3A South play. Beau Jacobson hauled in an 11-yard scoring pass from Tyler Allan in the loss for the Hawks.

8-Man Football

GUNNISON, Utah-Tyrek Hopkins ran for four touchdowns and the Gunnison Valley Bulldogs pounded Water Canyon 59-20 in 8-Man football play Wednesday. Bryson Sorensen added three more scoring runs for Gunnison Valley in victory.

Girls Soccer

3A Second Round

PRICE, Utah-Beverly Lancaster and Kacie Brady each scored a pair of goals and the No. 4 Carbon Dinos waxed No. 13 Grantsville 7-3 Wednesday in the second round of the 3A girls soccer playoffs. Baylee Lowder, Dj Casteneda and Kenzie Allen each scored in defeat for the Lady Cowboys. Carbon next hosts No. 5 Manti Saturday at 1:00 pm in the state quarterfinals.

MANTI, Utah-Brooklyn Olson and Sadie Nielsen each scored and the No. 5 Manti Templars blanked No. 12 Judge Memorial 2-0 in the second round of the 3A girls soccer playoffs Wednesday. Brynlee Wathen recorded the shutout for the Templars.

HERRIMAN, Utah-Natalie Scott and Summer Long each posted a pair of goals and the No. 1 Real Salt Lake Academy Griffins pounded No. 16 North Sanpete 8-1 Wednesday in the second round of the 3A girls soccer playoffs. The Griffins next host No. 8 Delta Saturday at 1:00 pm in the state quarterfinals.

DELTA, Utah-Kate Smith and Caitlin Allred each found the net and the No. 8 Delta Rabbits doubled up No. 9 Juab 2-1 in the second round of the 3A girls soccer playoffs Wednesday. Melea Ludlow found the net for the Wasps in the loss.

CEDAR CITY, Utah-Brooklyn Davie amassed a hat trick and the No. 2 Canyon View Falcons decimated No. 15 Emery 9-0 Wednesday in the second round of the 3A girls soccer playoffs. Gracie Burt recorded the shutout for the Falcons. Canyon View next hosts No. 7 Juan Diego Saturday in the state quarterfinals Saturday at 1:00 pm.

DRAPER, Utah-Hailey Mezenen’s hat trick led the way and the No. 7 Juan Diego Soaring Eagle blanked No. 10 Richfield 5-0 in the second round of the 3A girls soccer playoffs Wednesday. Jayda Mirales earned the shutout for the Soaring Eagle.

MORGAN, Utah-Kiersten Barney scored the sole goal of the game and the No. 3 Morgan Trojans blanked No. 14 Ben Lomond 1-0 Wednesday in the second round of the 3A girls soccer playoffs. Madi Wangsgard and Miya Turner combined on the shutout for the Trojans. Morgan next faces No. 6 Ogden Saturday at 1:00 pm in the state quarterfinals.

OGDEN, Utah-Nevaeh Peregrina posted a hat trick and the No. 6 Ogden Tigers hammered No. 11 Union 8-0 in the second round of the 3A girls soccer playoffs Wednesday.

2A First Round

AMERICAN FORK, Utah-The No. 8 American Heritage Patriots hammered No. 9 North Summit 8-0 Wednesday in the first round of the 2A state playoffs. The Patriots next visit No. 1 St. Joseph Saturday at 1:00 pm in the state quarterfinals.

FILLMORE, Utah-Kara Camp scored a pair of goals and the No. 4 Millard Eagles torched No. 13 APA West Valley 8-0 in the first round of the 2A state playoffs Wednesday. Kailey Thurman, Emma Stephenson, Devin Roper, Kristen Remkes, Itzel Munoz and Kadi Dearden also scored in victory for the Millard Eagles. Savannah Wright, Taelee Thatcher and Camdyn Gamble each contributed to the shutout for Millard. The Eagles next host No. 5 Maeser Prep Saturday at 1:00 pm in the state quarterfinals.

LINDON, Utah-Cat Miller amassed five goals and the No. 5 Maeser Prep Lions blanked No. 12 Utah Military Hill Field 10-0 Wednesday in the first round of the 2A state playoffs.

SALT LAKE CITY-Ruby Jeschke and Dakota Erickson each scored twice and the No. 2 Rowland Hall-St. Mark’s Winged Lions hammered No. 15 San Juan 11-0 Wednesday in the first round of the 2A state playoffs. Ming Lee recorded the shutout for the Winged Lions. Rowland Hall next hosts No. 7 Draper APA Saturday at 1:00 pm in the state quarterfinals.

DRAPER, Utah-Amber Dankwa scored and the No. 7 Draper APA Eagles edged No. 10 Beaver 3-2 in the first round of the 2A state playoffs Wednesday. Alina Lurth and Abigail Cox each scored in the loss for the Beavers.

SANDY, Utah-Grace Morris posted six goals and the No. 3 Waterford Ravens pounded No. 14 Gunnison Valley 11-0 Wednesday in the first round of the 2A state playoffs. Halee Hasebi recorded the shutout for the Ravens. Waterford next hosts No. 6 Parowan Saturday at 1:00 pm in the state quarterfinals.

PAROWAN, Utah-Madee Leydsman netted a hat trick and the No. 6 Parowan Rams dismantled No. 11 South Sevier 5-1 in the first round of the 2A state playoffs Wednesday. Taylor Gibson scored in defeat for the South Sevier Rams.

Volleyball

Region 14

NEPHI, Utah-The Delta Rabbits stormed past Juab 3-0 in Region 14 volleyball play Wednesday. The Rabbits swept the Wasps 25-22, 25-21, 25-19 to earn the straight sets victory.

Region 20

MILFORD, Utah-The Bryce Valley Mustangs stymied Milford 3-1 Wednesday in Region 20 volleyball play. The Mustangs prevailed over the Tigers 25-23, 19-25, 25-21, 26-24.

ESCALANTE, Utah-The Panguitch Bobcats hammered Escalante 3-0 in Region 20 volleyball play Wednesday. The Bobcats downed the Moquis 25-21, 25-15, 25-13 to record the straight sets victory.
