(Salt Lake City, UT) — A partnership between the state and a physicians group — plus some federal funding — will soon provide air purifiers to every K-through-12 school in Utah. The group — Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment — and the Utah Department of Health and Human Services have received funding from the ELC Reopening Schools Grant to pay for the purifiers. Members of the physicians group say studies have shown that cleaner air protects long-term brain development. Schools have until next July to sign up for funding before the grant expires.
