LOGAN, Utah-Monday, Utah State football freshman tailback Robert Briggs was named the Mountain West Conference’s freshman of the week.

Briggs, a native of Bellville, Texas, set a school record for rushing yards by a true freshman with 85 yards and a 23-yard score last Saturday in the Aggies’ 31-20 win over Connecticut.

Briggs and his Utah State teammates return to action Saturday as they visit No. 1 Alabama for a 5:30 pm MDT kickoff.
