RICHFIELD, Utah-Wednesday, the 2A South football media day was hosted by the Quality Center of Richfield.
Featured teams included South Sevier, Delta, Grand, Millard, Beaver and San Juan.
San Juan

The San Juan Broncos were represented by head coach Barkley Christensen, quarterback Parker Snyder, receiver Colin Baker, linebacker Magnum Nielson, receiver/defensive back Garrett Young and receiver Jersey Nieves, the Broncos’ de facto “Swiss Army knife” per Christensen’s admission.
Beaver

The Beaver Beavers were represented by longtime Beaver High School head coach in various sports, Jon Marshall, quarterback Tyten Fails, fullback/middle linebacker Ayden Bradshaw, offensive lineman/defensive lineman Trayson Brown and slot/tailback/defensive back Bentley Bradshaw.
Marshall cited the Beavers’ challenging commencement to the season. In the first five games, the Beavers play Kanab, Grantsville, Idaho 4A power Minico, Summit Academy and Providence Hall.
Marshall suggested the Beavers could commence the season 0-5 and “still be a pretty good football team.”
Fails said he hopes for the Beavers to play smashmouth football successfully this season.
Marshall modestly stated he has inherited successful football and girls basketball programs at Beaver High School before he took the reins of those respective programs.
The Beavers, Marshall confirmed, only have 10 seniors on this season’s roster. Nevertheless, he confirmed the Beaver heritage necessitates that kids always give optimum effort when showing their skills at practice sessions each day.
Marshall stated he’s looking to see where the Beavers are at as they play Kanab August 12. He also stated there’s nothing wrong with losing as long as the squad becomes consequently better.
Millard

The Millard Eagles were represented by head coach Stoney Myers, offensive lineman/defensive lineman Chaz Ashton, tailback Morgan Wade, tailback/middle linebacker KC Whitaker, defensive end Wade Brunson, offensive lineman/middle linebacker Hunter Rodriguez and “utility man” Tyler Davies.
Myers confirmed the Eagles want to be balanced on offense but he has a special affinity for “pounding the ball.” Myers’ offensive methodology is predicated upon the option offense from his roots and he confirmed Millard will run offense out of lots of different sets.
Myers also said the Eagles he is presently coaching are the toughest kids he’s been around in 26 years of coaching. He continued, saying Millard suffered eight season-ending injuries last season. This provided an opportunity for many underclassmen to receive game experience in 2021.
In a postseason loss to eventual state champion San Juan last season, Myers said the Eagles were “overmatched.” He cited the Broncos as being “men” who had full beards as they took off their helmets. Myers, a Millard alum, said he wants the Eagles to get back to “smashmouth football.”
Furthermore, Myers cited the biggest difference between Millard and Beaver and San Juan is the Beavers’ and Broncos’ collective speed.
Grand

The Grand Red Devils were represented by head coach Dennis Wells, offensive lineman Trenton Nelson, tailback Remington Roberts, tailback Royce Walling and guard/defensive end Brendon Eldridge.
The Red Devils, who have won one game in the past two seasons, feel as if they have much to prove. They await the August 12 season opener against Water Canyon with rapt anticipation.
Wells, if nothing else, said his Grand Red Devils need to toughen up and instill a football attitude within their collective psyche.
The Red Devils will start out defensively in their trademark 3-4 scheme, Wells confirmed. He also stated Grand would potentially change their defensive scheme pending on changes the offense may make in turn.
Wells, if nothing else, expects his Red Devils to play for 48 minutes each week. He also cited Grand’s seven net touchdowns last season and confirmed the offensive inefficiency must improve.
Delta

The Delta Rabbits are represented by first-year head coach Colin Christensen, quarterback Cameron Skeem, offensive lineman/defensive lineman Tanner Taylor, tailback Ryder Rogers and receiver/defensive back William Skeem.
Christensen is implementing a new offensive scheme at Delta as the inverted wishbone from the Dean Fowles/Russ Fowles era is being departed from. Christensen promises the offense will be similar in many ways, however.
Cameron Skeem stated the Rabbits are beginning to figure out Christensen’s new offense.
Rogers confirms the Rabbits’ offense is different but he feels that this has a lot of potential for Delta’s progression.
Taylor confirmed that he cannot wait for the season to start and William Skeen is awaiting the first snap against North Summit August 12.
South Sevier

The South Sevier Rams were the first team to address the media. They were represented by head coach John Ramage, quarterback Carter Abraham, halfback/safety Brigham Bradshaw, tight end/defensive end, utility man Easton Anderson and cornebrack/receiver/tailback Ty Sorensen.
Ramage said the Rams were ready to go out and play some football and the team needs to respond well to adversity.
The Rams also have a neutral site for the Week 3 game against the Preston (Idaho) Indians at Maverik Stadium of Logan on the campus of Utah State University.
Ramage said this game came by virtue of propitious circumstances as the Preston coaches actually contacted him.
Ramage stated Abraham is looking at the same things offensively that he is so there is a shared perspective in the quarterback-coach relationship.
