RICHFIELD, Utah-Tuesday evening, the Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network awards for the end of the 2021-22 sports season were announced at the Sevier County Fairgrounds in Richfield.
The John Yardley Impact Award was bestowed upon Camille Shakespear of the community of Escalante. This award, which is given to the most exemplary individual in high school sports in the Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network area, is named in honor of long-time Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network announcer John Yardley.
Shakespear has played an instrumental role in keeping Escalante Moquis sports ongoing through the years. She has made uniforms for the Moquis’ boys basketball team and served as a line judge in volleyball and a clock operator in numerous sports at Escalante High School.
She also labored diligently to construct a new Escalante High School, even going door-to-door throughout the community to obtain the necessary funds. Additionally, she helped a new track to be constructed.
If you want to see an “impact player” that is Camille!!! She has been the lifeblood of our school for 30 plus years. She single-handedly kept us together during some very difficult times. Thank you Camille, your impact is felt daily and forever!!!
