(Salt Lake City, UT) — Republican Senator Mike Lee faces pressure to get behind a bipartisan agreement on gun safety. Independent Senate candidate Evan McMullin praised Democrats and Republicans for coming together to pass something he believes will help prevent future gun deaths. McMullin noted that Republican Senator Mitt Romney is backing the plan, and called for Lee to “break with special interests and partisan extremes.” The legislation includes new resources to allow states to implement extreme risk protection orders, as well as investments for mental health treatment and school security upgrades.
