Chihuahuas Use Late Surge To Down Bees Thursday

SALT LAKE CITY-Shogo Akiyama had an RBI single in the top of the 10th Inning and the El Paso Chihuahuas surged past Salt Lake 4-3 Thursday evening at Smith’s Ballpark in PCL play.

The Bees had a 2-1 lead in the 6th Inning on a Dillon Thomas home run and a Jo Adell RBI sacrifice fly but El Paso responded in the 8th Inning.

In the 8th, Aderlin Rodriguez and C.J. Abrams each posted an RBI to give El Paso a 3-2 lead.

Magneuris Sierra tied things up 3-3 with a solo homer in the bottom of the 9th Inning before Akiyama’s heroics secured the win for El Paso.

Tayler Scott earned the win on the mound for the Chihuahuas, posting three strikeouts in two innings of work.

Thursday’s result renders both El Paso and Salt Lake at 28-23 on the season. The series resumes Friday at 8:35 pm at Smith’s Ballpark.
