(Salt Lake City, UT) — A nominee for Utah’s Supreme Court says she’s disturbed by the leak of a draft opinion from someone inside the nation’s highest court. Judge Diana Hagen was questioned about the leak by state senators during a confirmation hearing yesterday. Hagen said that the leak undermines public trust in what is supposed to be a confidential process. Hagen also pointed to her experience as a First Amendment lawyer when saying that government needs to be transparent and held accountable by the public. A vote on Hagen’s nomination is expected next week.
