(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Utah Transit Authority says “Free Fare February” brought more riders onto UTA buses and trains. Final numbers for the month-long free fare event were announced yesterday. The UTA says ridership increased 16-percent on weekdays, 58-percent on Saturdays and 33-percent on Sundays. A spokesman says the agency is trying to determine if riders who climbed aboard for the first time in February continued to use the transit system after the free-fare promotion ended.
