Permit Program For Angels Landing Hikers Begins Today

(Zion National Park, UT) — Visitors hoping to hike a popular trail at Zion National Park will need to bring more than water and comfortable shoes for the next few weeks. Starting today, those who want to hike the Angels Landing trail will also need a permit. Park officials are testing out a reservation and lottery system to help reduce trail congestion and increase safety on the steep and narrow route. Permits have been given out through the end of May, though a “day before” lottery is also held to allow some last-minute visitors to hike the trail. More information about the permit application process is available on the park’s website.
