(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah’s lieutenant governor says she’s disappointed in Utah lawmakers for overriding the governor’s veto of a ban on transgender athletes in school sports. Lieutenant Governor Deidre Henderson tells KUTV that state lawmakers accomplished little with the override, other than “a lot of anxiety and mess and bad press.” She added that the ban is likely to be overturned when it is challenged in court. Henderson says she doesn’t know if Utah will be hurt economically because of the ban, but says the damage to the state’s image could have some long-term impact.
