(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah’s snowpack is improving, but still has a long way to go before it can refill the state’s reservoirs this spring. The Utah Department of Natural Resources says the snowpack is still below average despite recent storms. But DNR officials add that soil moisture is nearly double what it was at this time last year. More than half of the state’s 45 biggest reservoirs are below 55-percent capacity. Last year, those reservoirs were near 65-percent capacity.
