Possible Compromise On Transgender Youth Sports Bill Being Discussed

(Salt Lake City, UT) — State lawmakers are considering changes to a youth transgender sports bill that’s currently awaiting a vote in the state Senate. Governor Spencer Cox met with lawmakers and representatives of Equality Utah Wednesday after House Bill 11 was passed by a Senate committee. The bill seeks to create a commission that would decide whether transgender athletes are eligible to participate in school sports programs. The president of the Senate said yesterday that he’s open to amending the bill to help ease the concerns of LGBTQ advocates.
