(Salt Lake City, UT) — State lawmakers are considering a bill that would create an earned income tax credit for lower-income Utahns. State Representative Mike Winder has introduced the bill in the House, where it received a first reading on Wednesday. Winder says a family of four making 35-thousand dollars could get several hundred dollars back on their taxes each year if the credit is approved. Senate leaders say they are open to the idea of an earned income credit and would seriously consider it if the bill passes the House.
