Intermountain Power Plant will be subject of legislation in Utah

One of the major topics facing the Utah State Legislature this session will center around Utah’s largest power generating facility, the Intermountain Power Plant in Millard County.  Senator Derrin Owens and Representatives Carl Albrecht and Steve Lund are concerned about the ramifications of past legislative actions dealing with the power plant, particularly those involving procurement procedures for coal and natural gas, as well as natural resources, especially water rights currently held by the plant.  Bills will be introduced this session dealing with returning more legislative oversite to the State, insuring that going forward Utah’s interests will be better protected, and Utah’s education system will remain funded.

Senator Owens and Representative Lund will hold a town meeting in Delta dealing with the upcoming legislation.  The meeting will be held on Friday, January 14 at 7 p.m. at the RJ Law Center, 75 West Main Street.  They also encourage everyone to follow the legislative session for more information.
