Utah Football Earns Two More Honors Thursday

SEATTLE-Thursday, the Pac-12 champion Utah Utes earned two more honors on what has proven to be a decorated week.

The Utes swept the 2021 Offensive and Defensive Morris trophies with the awards bestowed upon junior offensive lineman Nick Ford and junior defensive end Mika Tafua respectively.

The Morris Trophies are annually awarded to the most outstanding offensive and defensive linemen in the conference.

The Utes are the fourth program in conference history to sweep these awards since their inception in 1980.

Previous Utes to win this award include current Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Star Lotulelei (2011), current Green Bay Packers outside linebacker Nate Orchard (2014; he won this award as a defensive lineman for the Utes), former Miami Dolphins guard Isaac Asiata (2016) and current Dallas Cowboys defensive end Bradlee Anae (2019).

Ford has played a key role in the Utes ranking 14th nationally in rushing offense (216.1 yards per game) during the regular season.

Tafua has posted 48 tackles (13 tackles for a loss, 9.5 sacks) for the Utes during the regular sesason.

Ford, Tafua and their Utah teammates play Ohio State in the Rose Bowl January 1 at Pasadena, Calif.
