Person Hospitalized After Horse Goes Over Railing

On Nov. 12, authorities with Richfield City and Sevier County responded to the Sevier County Fair Grounds where an individual was trapped under a horse. According to Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis, Mark Jensen of Richfield was riding his horse and at some point, the horse went over the inside rail.

As the horse fell, Jensen was unable to get his foot free of the stirrup, trapping it under the horse. A witness was able to keep the horse calm and laying down until help arrived. First responders were able to help the horse up while getting Jensen’s leg out of the stirrup. Jensen was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he is recovering.
