Prescribed Burns Scheduled in Piute and Sevier Counties

With the arrival of favorable weather conditions, fire managers on the Fishlake National Forest, Richfield Ranger District will begin igniting prescribed burns in Piute and Sevier Counties Nov. 5 through Nov. 9.

The South Monroe Prescribed Fire Project will take place in Piute County, approximately nine miles northeast of Marysvale adjacent to Manning Meadows and Manning Reservoir. The project is targeting 100-800 acres of land.

The Moroni Peak Prescribed Fire Project is in Sevier County, approximately seventeen miles southwest of Emery. Ignitions will be in the Little Creek and Horseshoe Hollow areas, near Moroni Peak. The project is targeting 100-1,000 acres of land.

Both projects will be focusing on pinion, juniper, oak, mixed conifer, and seral aspen, with an objective to burn in a mosaic burn pattern with mixed severities.
