Exhibition Men’s Basketball Roundup: 11/4

SALT LAKE CITY-Gabe Madsen posted 16 points on 5-10 from the field as the Utah Utes routed NCAA Division II Westminster 87-51 Thursday at the Huntsman Center in exhibition men’s basketball action.

The Utes shot 51.5 percent for the game and built a 39-20 halftime leade to cruise to victory.

Lewis Johnson netted 10 points on 5-7 from the field in defeat for the Griffins. The Utes commence their regular season November 9 by hosting Abilene Christian of the WAC at the Huntsman Center.

PROVO, Utah-Alex Barcello led the way with 16 points and 4 rebounds on 6-11 from the field and 4-6 behind the arc as the BYU Cougars dismantled NCAA Division II Colorado Christian 63-45 at the Marriott Center Thursday.

The Cougars shot 50 percent from the field and outscored the Colorado Christian Cougars 37-24 in the second half.

DJ McDonald had 12 points for Colorado Christian in the loss. BYU commences its regular season Tuesday at the Marriott Center by hosting Cleveland State of the Horizon League.

OGDEN, Utah-Seikou Sisoho Jawara and JJ Overton posted 13 points apiece and the Weber Stae Wildcats routed NCAA Division II Concordia (Minn.) 101-74 at the Dee Events Center Tuesday.

The Wildcats shot 56.5 percent (39-69) from the field whle outrebounding the Golden Bears 50-33.

Marcus Skeete had 15 points and 7 rebounds in the loss for Concordia.

Weber State commences its regular season Tuesday by hosting NCAA Division II foe Western Colorado at the Dee Events Center.
