State Championship
OREM, Utah-The No. 4 Union Cougars overpowered Morgan 3-0 Thursday to capture their third consecutive state 3-A volleyball championship. The Cougars prevailed over the No. 2 seed Trojans 26-24, 25-17, 25-18 to successfully defend last season’s state title. This was Union’s fourth all-time state volleyball championship. The Cougars have earned state titles in volleyball in 1976, 2019, 2020 and 2021.
Semifinals
OREM, Utah-The No. 4 Union Cougars took a step toward achieving their third consecutive state title by upsetting No. 1 seed Emery 3-1 in the semifinals Thursday at the UCCU Center. The Cougars bested the Spartans 20-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-13. Union will play for a state title Wednesday at 4:30 pm against Morgan. Emery will play for third-fourth place Thursday at 2:30 pm against Richfield.
OREM, Utah-The No. 2 Morgan Trojans bested the No. 14 Richfield Wildcats 3-0 to advance to the 3-A state championship Wednesday at the UCCU Center. The Trojans prevailed over the Wildcats 25-20, 25-20, 25-19.
3rd-4th Place Game
OREM, Utah-The No. 1 Emery Spartans placed third with a 3-0 win over No. 14 Richfield at the UCCU Center Thursday at the 3-A state volleyball tournament. The Spartans prevailed over the Wildcats 25-14, 25-6, 25-13.
5th-7th Place Game
OREM, Utah-The No. 10 Delta Rabbits overpowered No. 5 South Summit 3-1 Thursday to earn 5th place in the 3-A state volleyball tournament at the UCCU Center. The Rabbits bested the Wildcats 25-23, 25-23, 22-25, 25-20.
6th-8th Place Game
OREM, Utah-The No. 16 Canyon View Falcons outlasted No. 7 Layton Christian 3-2 to earn 6th place at the UCCU Center Thursday during the 3-A state volleyball tournament. The Falcons prevailed over the Eagles, 25-21, 25-22, 12-25, 20-25, 15-12.
One-Loss Semis
OREM, Utah-The No. 5 seed South Summit Wildcats downed No. 8 Ogden 3-0 Thursday in the 3-A one-loss state semifinals at the UCCU Center, ending the Tigers’ season.
The Wildcats prevailed over the Tigers 25-21, 25-21, 25-23.
South Summit next plays Delta Wednesday afternoon at 1:15 pm for 5th-7th place.
OREM, Utah-The No. 10 Delta Rabbits downed No. 6 North Sanpete 3-1 in the 3-A one-loss state semifinals at the UCCU Center Thursday. The Rabbits prevailed 25-19, 25-13, 20-25, 25-17 over the Hawks, ending North Sanpete’s season.
Consolation Bracket
OREM, Utah-The No. 16 seed Canyon View Falcons downed No. 12 Judge 3-0 in the 3-A consolation bracket Thursday at the UCCU Center. The Falcons ended the Bulldogs’ season by virtue of prevailing 26-24, 25-16, 25-14. The Falcons advance in the consolation bracket to play No. 7 seed Layton Christian Thursday at 12:30 pm for 6th-8th place.
OREM, Utah-The No. 7 seed Layton Christian Eagles waxed No. 3 Carbon 3-1 Thursday in the 3-A consolation bracket at the UCCU Center. The Eagles bested the Dinos 25-18, 25-22, 26-28, 26-24.
