(Salt Lake City, UT) — Former Congressman Rob Bishop is criticizing the state’s independent redistricting commission for being too partisan. Bishop abruptly quit the commission yesterday, saying the group was favoring Democrats in the boundaries it was drawing. He also criticized the makeup of the commission, saying Utah’s rural areas did not have enough representation. The commission went on to approve three congressional maps to be submitted to the Utah Legislature for discussion and possible approval.
