ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP)-Per a report from KSL.com and the St. George Spectrum, a Hurricane man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for committing child abuse.
The 25-year-old Dakota Woolsey, per Washington County deputy attorney Zachary Weiland, abused and nearly killed his girlfriend’s 9-month-old son.
Weiland stated the baby was physically abused while the child’s 3-year-old brother was mentally harmed.
According to a probable cause statement, the baby showed signs of having been choked and also had bruises on his chest, neck and back.
Officials also found fractured ribs and fractured lower leg bones that appear to have been older injuries.
Woolsey’s attorney says his client understands the gravity of the things he committed and is seeking to repent.
