BYU Football Expected To Be Welcomed to Big 12 Friday

IRVING, Texas-Per a report from Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel, a vote welcoming BYU, Cincinnati, UCF and Houston is expected to occur Friday.

The Cougars became a candidate for the Big 12 as soon as news broke that Oklahoma and Texas earlier this year that the Sooners and Longhorns were expected to go to the SEC ahead of the 2025 college football season.

Per Brett McMurphy of The Action Network, BYU, Houston, UCF and Cincinnati are to be selected because of fan base size, history, and potential viewers in subsequent TV deals.

The 1-0 Cougars have been playing as an independent since 2011 when they departed from the Mountain West Conference.
