OGDEN, Utah-Thursday, former Manti High School football star Jared Schiess was named as the male recipient of Weber State University’s Big Sky Conference scholar-athlete award.

Schiess is a two-time All-Big Sky first team recipient and has been instrumental in the Wildcats winning four consecutive conference titles and subsequent trips to the NCAA FCS postseason.

Schiess has appeared in 47 games for the Wildcats during his collegiate career.

Schiess has netted 136 total tackles, 23 tackles for a loss and 5.5 sacks for the Wildcats.

Schiess is a 2019 graduate of Weber State, earning his degree in Health Administration while also earning a Master’s of Health Administration in April 2021.

He will play for the Wildcats again during the 2021 fall season which commences September 2 at Utah.
