LOGAN, Utah-Per a Thursday report, former Utah State football player Patrick “Doc” Allen died last week at his home in Seattle at 59.
Allen was a four-year letter-winning defensive back for the Aggies from 1980-1983.
Allen earned first-team all-Big West Conference honors as a senior in 1983 and second-team honors as a junior in 1982.
Allen was also named as the Big West’s Defensive Player of the Week following the Aggies’ 22-15 win over San Jose State in 1983.
In this game, he had four tackles and a career-high six pass breakups.
Allen finished his Aggies career with 8 interceptions, including five during his junior campaign.
Following his collegiate career, Allen was selected in the fourth round of the 1980 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers.
Allen played with the Oilers from 1984-1990 and posted seven interceptions and five fumble returns during his career. He helped Houston reach the playoffs four times during his career.
