EUGENE, Ore.-Saturday, former Millard High School multi-sport star athlete, BYU senior distance runner, Anna Camp, won the women’s 1500-meter run national championship at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
Camp posted a school-record time of 4:08.53 in the event, which is also her personal best time in the race.
As the No. 2 seed behind Colorado senior Sage Hurta following Thursday’s semifinals, Camp bested the Buffaloes’ star as Hurta finished second in a time of 4:09.42.

Camp’s teammate, senior Whittni Orton, a former Panguitch High School multi-sport star, competed in the women’s 5000-meter run Saturday.

Orton placed 18th in the event in a time of 16:05.33.
The national champion in this event was NC State graduate senior Elly Henes in a time of 15:28.05.
This was Henes’ first national championship in this event.
This meet concludes Camp and Orton’s collegiate careers running for the Cougars.
