The state of Utah is issuing stage one fire restrictions to help reduce the chances of wildfires. The restrictions went into effect early in the morning of June 10.
According to the new restrictions smoking in now prohibited outdoors except in enclosed areas or vehicles, and restrictions on open burning, cutting and welding are in effect. Using motorcycles, ATVs and chainsaws without spark arrestors is also prohibited.
Cities and towns still set their own restrictions, meaning these restrictions are only for state and private lands in unincorporated areas. Utah Division of Wildlife Resources has also temporarily banned campfires and target shooting in all wildlife management areas around the state.
