Two suspects are in custody and both north and southbound I-15 lanes are now open after a police incident near Scipio that took place May 19.

The Utah Department of Transportation tweeted around 4:50 p.m. May 19. that all lanes of I-15 were closed near Yuba State Park due to an active police incident in the Yuba State Park area.

In a Facebook post, the Millard County Sheriff’s Office shared that there was a man, James Klein of Minnesota, armed with a rifle who was considered vary dangerous. It was shared later that the man was taken into custody along with an unidentified female.

According to reports Klein and the unidentified female stole a patrol vehicle with a K-9 inside and tried to escape before exchanging gunfire with officers. No law enforcement officers were hurt, and the K-9 in the stolen vehicle was also uninjured.
