Prescribed Burn Near Panguitch Tuesday

PANGUITCH, Utah (AP)-Per the official Twitter of the Dixie National Forest, there will be a prescribed burn Tuesday morning near Panguitch.

The Forest reports the burn is slated for a portion of the Paunsaugunt Plateau 20 miles southeast of Panguitch in Garfield County Tuesday at 8:00 am MDT.

This is on the Powell Ranger District of the Dixie National Forest and is expected to last for three-six days while smoke may be visible for as long as two weeks.

The purpose of the fire, the forest says, is to reduce the dead and down fuel loading in the Ponderosa Pines and is expected to stymie any potentially negative effects from future wild land fires to Dixie National Forest lands.
