(Salt Lake City, UT)  –  Professors and staffers at the University of Utah are planning to protest the firing of the head of the Huntsman Cancer Institute.  The university fired Dr. Mary Beckerle Monday afternoon via email.  Beckerle had been CEO and director of the Huntsman Institute for eleven years.  The university has not commented on the decision.  A group of professors and staff members connected to the institute plans a protest march on the university campus at noon today.
