Two teens sent to hospital after crash on I-70 Saturday

Two teens from Colorado were sent the hospital with injuries after their car crashed Saturday morning on I-70 in Sevier County.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Apolonia Gallegos and 19-year-old Bombole Mbenga were traveling Eastbound near milepost 23, when they went off the freeway to the left. They overcorrected to the right, went off the highway and overturned.

Their vehicle than collided with a tree and Gallegos was ejected. UHP reports, the car than vaulted over her and came to rest on its roof on a fence.

Mbenga crawled out and flagged down help. She was taken to Sevier Valley Hospital. Gallegos was flown to Utah Valley Hospital with serious head injuries.

Investigators believe the driver fell asleep after the two had traveled through the night from California.
