An unfortunate accident happened just before 3:00 p.m. on Jan. 27 on a feed lot near Venice.

According to Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis, Than Henrie, age 73 from Richfield, was working on unloading grain at Cowley’s Feed Lot near Venice when he slipped and fell from his truck.

Upon falling Henrie tried catching himself, causing his hand to get caught in a conveyor belt, completely severing it from his arm.

He was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Richfield and according to Curtis he is doing okay.

Medics were able to retrieve Henrie’s hand, but so far there has been no word on whether they will be able to reattach it.
