On June 16 Sevier County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a farmer who found a body in the Vermillion Canal south of Sigurd.
Upon investigating it was discovered that the individual was a 32 year old female from Sigurd. The Sheriff’s Office isn’t releasing the individuals name until her family has been notified.
According to Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis, it is believed that the body had been there at least overnight and currently no foul play is suspected.
The Sheriff’s Office had not received a report of a missing person and they are currently investigating the individuals phone records to get a better timeline of events.
An autopsy will be performed on June 17 and this story will be updated with more information when it becomes available.
