Road Weather Highlights

Strong winter storm will impact the state of Utah Thursday through Friday. This system will push in valley rain and heavy wet mountain snow on Thursday. Snow levels will initially be quite high on Thursday generally above 6500-7000 feet (from north to south across the state), but will slowly drop as a cold front will move through Thursday evening/night. This front will transition transitioning valley areas along I-15 north of Cedar City from rain to snow around or after midnight Thursday night.. I-15/Valley routes will generally see light road snow late Thursday night/Friday morning. Significant road snow accumulations are expected for all mountain routes across the state. Motorists are advised to use caution and TravelWise. Motorists heading up canyon and mountain routes should be prepared for chain restrictions at any time during snow events. The following routes will experience weather-related travel concerns during the forecast period:

  • I-15, North of Cedar City
  • I-84, Entire Route
  • I-80, east of exit 77
  • I-70, west of Green River
  • US-40, Entire Route
  • US-89, North of Kanab
  • US-189, Entire Route
  • US-191, North of Vernal, over Indian Canyon Summit (south of Duchesne) and around Monticello/Blanding
  • SR-20, east of I-15 milepost 95
  • SR-14, east of Cedar City
  • SR-143, east of Parowan
  • SR-190 Big Cottonwood Canyon, east of Salt Lake City
  • SR-210 Little Cottonwood Canyon, east of Salt Lake City
