Nowitzki's Hot Shooting Leads Mavs Past Toronto

DALLAS-Dirk Nowitzki had 32 points and seven rebounds while hitting four consecutive three-pointers in a span of 1:41 in the third quarter to help the Dallas Mavericks erase a 24-point deficit to defeat the Toronto Raptors, 105-99 Tuesday evening at American Airlines Center. This comeback marked the second time the Mavericks have come from 24 points down against Toronto, as they also did so in February of 2006. Devin Harris and Jason Terry added 19 points apiece for Dallas, while Josh Howard chipped in with 15 points. Chris Bosh, returning to his hometown, had 31 points and 12 rebounds for the Raptors, while Andrea Bargnani paced Toronto with 20 points. In other NBA action Tuesday, San Antonio stonewalled Atlanta, 95-83, Milwaukee outgunned Cleveland, 111-107, the Los Angeles Lakers steamrolled Indiana, 134-114, Washington smacked Philadelphia, 116-101, Golden State hashed New York, 108-82, Denver obliterated Chicago, 112-91, and Phoenix outlasted Sacramento, 100-98.

Court Bond Fails

(Manti) The battle over the building of a court facility in Manti is over. The final canvass of votes was acceptes today during a meeting of the Municipal Building Authority of Sanpete. The final count had 2957 votes in favor of the bond, and 2962 votes against the issue. The bond failed by a mere five votes. By the end of election night there were six more votes in favor of the building, but after the absentee and provisional ballots were counted the lead shifted to those against. Commissioners commented that they will continue to do what they can to protect the people of the county and prepare for the future growth of the area. While the spokespersons for Concerned Citizens of Sanpete County, who led the fight against the bond expressed gratitude to those who worked to get their message out, and hope that the citizens realize that they do have a say in county government.

Garfield Sheriff cautions on speed

PANGUITCH) – Speed changes along Highway 89 can be frequent and abrupt. Garfield County Sheriff, Danny Perkins, says that speeds change due to many small towns along the highway. He says it happens quite a bit as people approach Panguitch City. Sheriff Perkins says it’s important to travel in Southern Utah knowing that 65 miles per hour can change to 30 and 35 miles per hour quickly and to be aware of the posted signs for your safety and the safety of all the Thanksgiving holiday travelers.

(PANGUITCH) – State officials are warning holiday travelers to take extra precautions while traveling this Thanksgiving weekend. Garfield County Sheriff, Danny Perkins, says that mountian passes can turn to ice very quickly and very deceptively. He says he has seen all too often, a dangerous scenario play out on the roads of Southern Utah. Sheriff Perkins recommends that you drive with extra caution over the mountain passes, especially toward night-fall. He said to remember to drive slowly with a large cushion of space around you and other vehicles and drive with your lights on.
