Court Building Bond Issue

Published on November 06, 2007 at 11:13PM

(Manti) After more than a year of discussion and controversy, the decision on the Sanpete County Court Building Bond has come down to just a few votes. At the final count Tuesday night, there were six more votes in favor of the bond compared with those against. The fight isn’t over though as there are still a number of absentee ballots that haven’t been received yet, and several hundred provisional ballots that need to be verified and counted. Absentee ballots are allowed in a number of situations where the voter is unable to vote in person. Provisional ballots are used in cases where the deadline for registration is missed, but the voter is a legal resident. If the voter submits the necessary changes and provides proof of residence, they can vote provisionally. Provisional ballots are then checked for validity. The final numbers won’t be available until the final canvas at a later date.
