DENVER-Greg Jennings caught an 82-yard touchdown pass on the first play from scrimmage in overtime as the Green Bay Packers continued in their magnificent start to the season with a 19-13 victory over the Denver Broncos Monday evening at Invesco Field at Mile High. Favre, (21-27, 331 yds, 2 TD’s) had never thrown a touchdown pass in Denver nor won a game in the Mile High City but that swiftly changed when in the 1st Quarter facing a 7-0 deficit he hit rookie wideout James Jones on a 79-yard scoring strike to tie the score. The Packers also received two field goals from kicker Mason Crosby to take a 13-7 lead at intermission. The Broncos seized momentum back in the second half as Broncos QB Jay Cutler (21-33, 261 yards, TD) hit receivers Brandon Stokley and Brandon Marshall on several big plays downfield. Denver tied the score in the closing seconds when once again Jason Elam came up big with a 20-yard field goal to send things into overtime. Nevertheless, the Packers won the toss and on the following play, Favre ripped the Broncos’ hearts out with his strike to Jennings. The win for the Packers was their first overtime victory on the road since they defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football in 1983. This game is best remebered as Howard Cosell’s last broadcast before retirement.Next week, Green Bay faces another AFC West opponent on the road as they battle the Kansas City Chiefs in Kansas City, Mo. while the Broncos travel to Detroit to challenge the resurgent and underrated Detroit Lions.
