Badgers Evade Artichokes to Remain Unbeaten
Published on October 28, 2007 at 11:17AM
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.-Joe Phillips nailed three field goals, each of which were crucial to victory as the Snow Badgers remained unbeaten on the season with a hard-fought 22-9 victory over the Scottsdale Artichokes Saturday evening. The Badgers received their stiffest test of the season against the Artichokes as SCC surrendered only 210 offensive yards to an offense that came into the contest averaging 462 yards per contest. Snow broke the game open when Tu Tui blocked and recovered a punt in the Scottsdale end zone which gave the Badgers the final margin of victory. As for the Snow defense, they only allowed 185 yards to an Artichokes squad which lost its starting quarterback, Cody Bruns to injury in the third quarter but still remained competitive until the end. Next week, the Badgers host the Eastern Arizona Gila Monsters in a game which has both WSFL and national championship implications. Kickoff takes place at noon on Saturday Nov.3 at Stoddard Field at Badger Stadium in Ephraim. The game can be heard on KMTI-AM 650 or online at www.kmtiradio.com
