Badgers Remain Unbeaten With Win Over Phoenix

Published on October 06, 2007 at 03:56PM

Ephraim, Utah-Soni Sotele and Niu Takai combined for 311 rushing yards as the Snow Badgers maintained their #1 ranking with a 33-13 pasting of the Phoenix Bears Saturday afternoon at Stoddard Field at Badger Stadium in WSFL action. Although the offense suffered some uncharacteristic turnovers and was somewhat sluggish to start off the game, the Snow defense under the direction of defensive coordinator Justin DeCol was stout and withheld scoring opportunities from the Bears. In his second start for Snow, QB Houston Erbstoesser threw for 187 yards in an efficient performance. Additionally, the Badgers amassed 493 yards of offense, and had 24 first downs to Phoenix’s six. The frigid conditions in south central Utah were also a problem for the Maricopa County-based Bears as they coughed up two fumbles which resulted in Snow scores. Next week, the Badgers continue their homestand in Ephraim as they battle conference foe Glendale, which is also ranked in the Top 10 of the NJCAA polls currently. Kickoff will be at 1:30 p.m. and the action can be heard on KMTI-AM 650 or online at www.kmtiradio.com
