Prep Football Round-up 9/14/07

(Coalville, Utah) Dallon Donaldson rushed for 230 yards and four touchdowns as the North Summit Braves smacked the Manti Templars, 33-14 Friday evening. Donaldson’s touchdown runs were of two, five, 37 and 43 yards for North Summit in their rout. For the Templars, Russell Hugentobler caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from Griffin Aste while David Hugentobler added a two-yard scoring run for Manti.

(Mount Pleasant, Utah) The North Sanpete Hawks celebrated homecoming with a 27-13 victory over Morgan. The Hawks erased an early 13-0 deficit as Jordan Walker ran for 137 yards on 26 carries and a touchdown Friday evening. North Sanpete also received strong performances from Teejay Clawson, Tyler Daniels and Reggie Clawson who also scored touchdowns. Jake Kensey added a 96-yard kickoff return for a score and a two-yard touchdown run for the Trojans.

(Gunnison, Utah) Connor Peterson completed nine of 13 passes for 110 yards and two scores as the South Summit Wildcats blew out the Gunnison Bulldogs, 47-26 Friday night. Jace Anderson, Matthew Harris and Eric Frandsen added scores for the Bulldogs.

(Richfield, Utah) Jesse Hartle threw three touchdown passes, each of which going to different receivers as the Richfield Wildcats decimated the South Sevier Rams, 48-19. Travis Tuttle also threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to J.D. Michaelsen for the Wildcats. Robbie Hicks had a seven-yard scoring run, while Zach Blackham ran for a touchdown and threw for another for the Rams.

(Moab, Utah) Gordon Garrett ran for three touchdowns and 171 yards on just six carries and threw for two more scores as the Grand Red Devils pounded the Beaver Beavers, 49-8 Friday night. The Beavers’ offense struggled mightily against the Red Devils as they amassed less than 100 offensive yards. In the 4th Quarter, Beaver avoided the shutout when Bryce Anderson scored on an 11-yard toss from Jordan Hutchings.

(Cedar City, Utah) Logan Obering had 89 all-purpose yards and ran for a seven-yard touchdown and threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Corry as the Cedar Redmen hammered the Delta Rabbits, 26-3 Friday evening.

(Kanab, Utah) In a battle of 1A powers, the Kanab Cowboys exacted vengeance against the Duchesne Eagles for their defeat to them in last year’s 1A Championship game with a 27-22 win Friday night. Logan Mazzettia scored two touchdowns for the Cowboys, while Jordan Nelson scored on a nine-yard pass from T.J. Reidhead, and Thomas Quist also added an eight-yard scoring run. Colby Evans had two touchdown runs in the game for Duchesne.

(Spanish Fork, Utah) Kyler Jones ran for two touchdowns and caught a scoring pass and Jordan Jones threw for two scores as the Juab Wasps stung the American Leadership Academy Eagles, 34-0 Friday evening. The Juab defense also allowed only six first downs in a dominating performance.

(Blanding, Utah) Zack Wilcox scored three touchdowns and Clancy Mortensen returned a kickoff 68 yards for another score as the Millard Eagles remained unbeaten with a 33-21 win over the San Juan Broncos Friday night. Dane Lyman threw for three touchdowns for the Broncos.

(Enterprise, Utah) Trevor Colf returned an interception 25 yards for a score and the Enterprise Wolves outlasted North Sevier, 10-9 in a battle of Wolves. Tyler McEown had 190 rushing yards for the North Sevier Wolves in defeat.

Brookside Fire Update

(Cedar City) The Brookside fire twenty miles north of Saint George is now sixty percent contained. The fire was started by lightning on Monday and has now burned five-hundred and thirty-two acres. Traffic on Highway 18 remains a concern as fire crews continue to work along side the road. Motorists are encouraged to slow down while moving through the affected area. Eighty-two personnel are working on the fire that is expected to be fully contained later today. A red flag warning has been issued for today due to expected gusty wind and high temperatures.

Blackhawk expansion bond approved

(SALINA) – A new Utah Lease Revenue Bond has been adopted by Salina City to finance the cost of expansion of the Blackhawk Arena. In Wednesday’s city council meeting, officials approved the $1.2-million bond to renovate the indoor and outdoor arenas, covered livestock stalls and related facilities and any other expense with transactions contemplated.

Salina City adopts noise ordinance

(SALINA) – Salina City has adopted a new noise ordinance and revised the city’s OHV ordinance. In Wednesday’s city council meeting, Salina resident, Ruth Smith, complained of noise and children riding four-wheelers on the highway without helmets. Mayor Jim Reynolds said the city council was able to satisfy Smith’s concerns by revising the OHV ordinance to comply with the state statute. The state law says that children under 12 years of age cannont ride ATV’s without parent supervision and those eight years of age and older must have ATV training.

Delta man dies of asphyxiation

(DELTA) – A 21-year old Delta man died of accidental asphyxiation in his home last Saturday. Chaz Young had been home alone for most of the day and apparently left a natural gas stove burner turned on for an extended period of time. His body was discovered at about 11:15pm by Millard County Sheriff’s Deputies.
