(Indianapolis) Peyton Manning completed 18 of 30 passes for 289 yards and three touchdowns and the Indianapolis Colts broke open a tight game with a 31-point onslaught as they decimated the New Orleans Saints, 41-10 Thursday evening at the RCA Dome. The Colts took a swift 7-0 lead when Manning hit wideout Marvin Harrison on a 27-yard scoring strike and the rout seemed on at this point. However, former Colts cornerback Jason David stripped receiver Reggie Wayne on a second quarter reception and returned his theft 55 yards for a 7-7 tie. Nevertheless, despite the Saints’ offensive excellence last season, this proved to be the only touchdown they would score on the evening. With the score deadlocked at 10-10 at intermission, the Colts seized momentum and never gave it back. Manning found Wayne for touchdown passes of 28 and 45 yards, while Joseph Addai (117 rushing yards and a score) added a two-yard touchdown afer a drive that encompassed eight plays and 71 yards to open the second half. As for the Colts defense, they surrendered just 296 yards to the explosive Saints and punctuated their strong performance when defensive back returned a pick by New Orleans QB Drew Brees 83 yards for a score which gave Indianapolis their final margin of victory at 41-10. With no playoff teams facing the Colts in their next six games, the short-term future seems bright for them. Meanwhile, the Saints must swiftly pick up the pieces as they have a divisional game at Tampa Bay a week from Sunday.

(Manti) The Sanpete County Commissioners held two public informational meetings Wednesday night to explain the need for a new court facility. The meeting in Manti was well attended with over forty residents turning out. The commissioners presented their case in an attempt to win voter support for the bond election to be held in November. According to the commissioners, the need for the new building stems from a shortage of storage space in the current building, a safety risk posed by unsecured routs for transporting inmates, and a lack of security. Commissioners reassured those attending the meeting that the facility, if it is built, will not be located on fairground property. Many concerns were expressed by those attending the meeting dealing with everything from the location of the building to the financing procedures. Commissioners will continue to hold informational meeting throughout the county until September 25th. The next meetings will be held tonight in Spring City and Fayette at 7:00 PM. A full schedule of meetings can be found on our website at KMTIRADIO.COM.
