Lowry Fire Continues to Burn

Published on August 24, 2007 at 11:24AM

Little progress has been made on the fire burning in Japs Valley in Millard county. As of this morning, the fire had consumed over twenty-eight hundred acres of B-L-M, state, and private land. Crews were able to establish dozer lines on the east side of the fire yesterday, but containment isn’t likely until at least mid September, depending on weather conditions. The area the fire is burning in makes it difficult to reach, and is often too dangerous for firefighters to enter. At this point, containment is only at five percent.
