Gunnison, Utah Bradley Jackson completed seven of his 12 passes for 203 yards and the Gunnison Bulldogs started off the season on the right foot with a 45-16 victory over the South Sevier Rams Friday evening in 2A football action. The Rams bolted out to a swift start as quarterback Nathan Roberts hit TE Derrick Forbush on an 11-yard touchdown pass which gave South Sevier the early 7-0 lead. However, explosive TB Heston Neal returned the ensuing kickoff 80 yards for a score and on the next possession, after Dillon Bishoff hit a 30 yard field goal for the Rams, Neal struck again as he scored on a 50-yard pass from Jackson. After a Jackson touchdown pass of 60 yards to Jace Anderson (who also scored touchdowns on plays of 52 and 28 yards respectively), Bulldogs defensive lineman David Crane returned a Roberts fumble 73 yards for a score which gave Gunnison a commanding 26-10 lead at intermission. The Rams made thing interesting midway through the third quarter when Forbush blocked a Bulldogs punt and recovered it in the end zone to cut it to a 26-16 deficit, but from there, Gunnison regained momentum via the heroics of Anderson.
