Lindell Boots Bills to victory

Published on August 10, 2007 at 10:30PM

New Orleans-Rian Lindell nailed a 54-yard field goal with 3:23 left in the 4th Quarter and the Buffalo Bills edged the New Orleans Saints, 13-10 at the Louisiana Superdome Friday evening in NFL preseason action. Despite the fact that New Orleans outgained Buffalo, 375-212, numerous turnovers inside the red zone doomed the Saints. However, New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees appeared to be in midseason form as he consistently riddled the Buffalo secondary by completing 11 of 13 passes for 118 yards. On the initial series of the game, he led the Saints into field goal territory, but a field goal by newly acquired kicker Olindo Mare was blocked by Bills offensive lineman Langston Walker. The Saints also received a strong performance from reserve signal-caller Tyler Palko. The rookie from Pittsburgh threw for 178 yards, including a two-yard touchdown pass to fellow rookie Robert Meachem, but his showing was undone by two interceptions.
