The National Parks Service is closing the State Route 148 through the Cedar Breaks National Monument for the winter.

According to a press release from the Parks Service, snow and ice has piled up on the road to the point where its now become unsafe to have traffic.

Visitors can still access the park via Highway 143 and the town of Brian Head. State Route 143 that connects Parowan to Panguitch will still be open through the winter, unless heavy storms make it dangerous temporarily.
