CEDAR CITY, Utah-(FOX 13) Per a report from FOX 13 in Salt Lake City, Thursday, Cedar City police stated they arrested a man who attempted to steal someone’s car, spraying gas on him in the process.

Authorities confirmed this happened at 10:30 am MST at a Shell station in Cedar City when the suspect approached a customer, demanding his keys.

Reportedly, the suspect threatened him by holding the gas nozzle and striking a lighter, acting as if he were going to ignite the gas.

The suspect then jumped into the driver’s seat of the victim’s car. However, before he could leave, the victim jumped into the passenger seat.

Sergeant Jerry Womack of the Cedar City Police Department said the victim had his own knife and demanded the suspect get out of his car, after which the suspect sprayed the victim with the gas nozzle.

The suspect then jumped out of the victim’s car and ran back to his own vehicle before using the victim’s pump to fill up his own tank.

Police apprehended him 15 minutes later on Interstate 15 by using strike strips.
